What is a good fitness plan to build muscle?

May 28th, 2011

I’m 19 years old, 5’10 and weigh 220lbs. I’m trying to find a girlfriend but it’s like I’m invisible. So I want to lose weight and gain muscle to look good. However I don’t know anything about fitness plans or anything so can someone help me know what kinds of foods to eat and some fitness plan ideas? Also give me some idea of how much weight I can lose within a week. Thanks guys.

** Eat six mini meals a day. Exercise and before every meal, drink two tall glasses of water, (about 16 oz.) this will fill you up and you will automatically eat less. This really works, so be patient. Good Luck to you

What are the best HGH supplements to use to get stronger, bigger, and ripped up?

May 28th, 2011

I am wondering what would be the best type of HGH supplements to get stronger, bigger, and more ripped. I am not an athlete or a bodybuilder. I am just looking for something to look good and feel better. If you don’t mind, can you please post a link to the HGH supplement that you are preferring. Thank you.

there r no HGH suppls that are worth taking. if you are older than 25 then try going to a doctor and they will more than likely give you Test. if you are older than 30 your doctor WILL give you Test more than likely. If you do HGH it is not like Test or other Steroid compounds. You will be doing it from anywhere between 8-12 months.. Pinning every day sometimes 2 depending what kind you get. So pretty much HGH will be out of the question

What is a good website to learn better nutrition?

May 18th, 2011

I am 25 years old and I don’t think I have had good nutrition my whole life, lol. I guess I just never really thought about it enough to care about it. Now I am a Father to a two year old little girl and it’s becoming more and more important to me for us all to eat right.
Basically I am looking for a good website or two on how to have good nutrition. Things to eat and things to avoid. Thanks in advance.

I have found this website to be very helpful. It not only tells you the calories, but what proportion of fat/protein/carbs are in things and what vitamins. A really great planning tool! Also has good articles and forums. I also linked a toddler specific one for you.
I’m glad to see you are being a good responsible parent by ensuring proper nutrition for your child! You are a great example for other parents.

I does proper infant nutrition help prevent future diseases?

And specifically what type of diseases are they?

Thank you so much.

There are several diseases related to lack of certain nutrients (rickets is one) or lack of adequate caloric intake. Feeding a baby properly will help ensure that they develop their body systems properly and get the best chance at growing to their potential.

What are some health benefits of apples?

April 29th, 2011

I’ve started having an apple (or more) a day, in part to keep the doctor away, but also because I finally found a place nearby that sells good apples fairly consistently. I was wondering what some of the health benefits are – I’ve heard that apples can help you run better, for one thing, and was wondering if that was true. Also I’ve been told they’re pretty high in fiber. What else are they good for? And which color of apples (red vs green) is better for you, from a health standpoint, or does it really matter?

We’re told that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but what exactly are the health benefits of apples? Here are ten reasons to heed the advice of that old proverb.

Bone Protection
French researchers found that a flavanoid called phloridzin that is found only in apples may protect post-menopausal women from osteoporosis and may also increase bone density. Boron, another ingredient in apples, also strengthens bones.

Asthma Help
One recent study shows that children with asthma who drank apple juice on a daily basis suffered from less wheezing than children who drank apple juice only once per month. Another study showed that children born to women who eat a lot of apples during pregnancy have lower rates of asthma than children whose mothers ate few apples.

Alzheimer’s Prevention
A study on mice at Cornell University found that the quercetin in apples may protect brain cells from the kind of free radical damage that may lead to Alzheimer’s disease.

Lower Cholesterol
The pectin in apples lowers LDL ("bad") cholesterol. People who eat two apples per day may lower their cholesterol by as much as 16 percent.

Lung Cancer Prevention
According to a study of 10,000 people, those who ate the most apples had a 50 percent lower risk of developing lung cancer. Researchers believe this is due to the high levels of the flavonoids quercetin and naringin in apples.

Breast Cancer Prevention
A Cornell University study found that rats who ate one apple per day reduced their risk of breast cancer by 17 percent. Rats fed three apples per day reduced their risk by 39 percent and those fed six apples per day reduced their risk by 44 percent.

Colon Cancer Prevention
One study found that rats fed an extract from apple skins had a 43 percent lower risk of colon cancer. Other research shows that the pectin in apples reduces the risk of colon cancer and helps maintain a healthy digestive tract.

Liver Cancer Prevention
Research found that rats fed an extract from apple skins had a 57 percent lower risk of liver cancer.

Diabetes Management
The pectin in apples supplies galacturonic acid to the body which lowers the body’s need for insulin and may help in the management of diabetes.

Weight Loss
A Brazilian study found that women who ate three apples or pears per day lost more weight while dieting than women who did not eat fruit while dieting.

What can I do with a nutrition degree besides work in a kitchen?

April 29th, 2011

I want to continue pursuing my bachelor’s in nutrition, because I LOVE nutrition. It is so interesting to me. I am just worried because I don’t want to work in a kitchen or hospital foodservice for a living. What are my options? Should I change my major? I love the medical field and am open to suggestion.

Well you would do a LOT more than just planning meals for a kitchen. Everyone nutritionist I know works in a hospital but they go around and talk with the patients and do nutrition assessments and help patients make a diet for when they go home. They also look at what the person ate in the past and decide if they are maybe deficient in a nutrient or something like that. To be honest I have never met one that actually did work in a kitchen.

What type of health insurance should I get if I am self employed?

April 21st, 2011

Hello I am a healthy female in my early thirties and a non smoker. I need to find decent health insurance that you would get from a good employer. I am new to this and dont understand what I need to have covered for health insurance. I am looking for some good advice and any suggestions. Thank You
P.S- Is it usual that health insurance does not cover maternity?

Since the health reform act, insurance companies have pretty much stopped selling maternity coverage. When you CAN buy it, it’s about $300 a month extra, and most of the time you have to purchase it a full year becoming pregnant, for it to cover. So yes, it’s normal for maternity to NOT be covered, under an individual policy.

You’re not going to get the same kind of coverage that you would through an employer. On an individual policy, they can exclude coverage for stuff already wrong. If you ARE currently pregnant, you’re uninsurable on an individual plan until after the baby is born (just sayin’, because 95% of the women who mention interest in maternity coverage here, are ALREADY pregnant).

For good advice that’s valid in YOUR area, you should talk to a local agent near you. They’ll know what state you are in, and which deals are best – and they can help you balance coverage and cost to find what you can afford, and they’ll EXPLAIN how it all works. You won’t get that from an online website.
